OUR IMPACT TO DATE

At least 9 million Filipinos (8.8% of the country’s population) have hearing loss that requires medical attention or rehabilitation through hearing aids. There is currently a limited number of hearing health professionals in the country for a population of 118 million. Over 90% of audiologists are based in the Capital. Therefore, access to ear and hearing care is challenging for rural and disadvantaged areas. 

World Wide Hearing (WWH) has been collaborating with Better Hearing Philippines since 2016. It is a not-for-profit organization based in Manila and is made up of ear and hearing health professionals. 

Malnutrition is a significant risk factor for hearing loss in children in the Philippines. Working with mothers, we address this issue by raising awareness about hearing loss and providing screening. We also offer diagnostic services for children and hearing aids for those who need them. By detecting hearing loss early, children can receive timely interventions, ensuring equal access to educational opportunities.
