CAMEROON
2025 - Audiology Technician Training
In August 2025, World Wide Hearing co-designed and delivered a first-of-its-kind, 10-day training program for 13 audiology technicians in Yaoundé, Cameroon—the first of its kind in both the country and across CBM priority countries. Developed in response to the severe shortage of trained audiology professionals, the program brought together nurses and ENT clinicians from the Centre, Littoral, and North-West regions for hands-on training in hearing screening, audiological assessment, diagnosis, management and referral of ear conditions, hearing aid fitting, and earmould making. Supervised clinical activities helped participants apply their learning in practice, with 108 people screened and 13 fitted with hearing aids during the training.
The program was also designed with scalability in mind, aiming to develop a practical training model that can be adapted and replicated in other countries facing similar shortages of hearing-care professionals.
