In Canada

In the fall of 2020, World Wide Hearing received the support of the Emergency Community Support Fund (ECSF). This funding opportunity responds to the Canadian hard-of-hearing population's urgent needs by supporting the production and free distribution of more than 8,000 transparent masks in more than six Canadian regions. We partnered with women from different Indigenous and Northern communities to produce and distribute transparent masks locally and stimulate local economies during COVID-19. These communities include but are not limited to Pessamit, Kanehsatake, Iqaluit, Whitehorse, and Joliette (Innu, Mohawk, Inuit, Kwanlin Dün First Nation, Ta’an Kwäch’än Council and Atikamekw Territories).

World Wide Hearing produced and donated more than 9,000 masks to 33 communities across Canada. For more information, please see our distribution map below (click the map to enlarge it).

Thank you to our funders: The Community Foundations of Canada, the Canadian Red Cross and the Government of Canada.
